buzzing sound and it goes away after..maybe 3-4 minutes.Mine's a 2.8 and I don't know if anybody experienced the same thing..MikePuzach?

Could be unrelated but on my '97 A6 12V I hear a noise from the engine compartment (at least the front of the car) when I turn off the engine (no turbos that year). It isn't very loud and lasts about 2-4 seconds. It sounds like something "spinning down" or "loosing RPMs". I don't notice it all the time and seem to need to be in a garage or other "surrounded area" to hear it.

I've actually been trying to ignore the sound because it scares me.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Someone here explained it some time ago. To be honest, I don't remember the explanation! I just remember learning that the sound is normal and is nothing that needs any attention. No problem!

I love that sound! Also, when you turn the key to the on position, there is another neat sound you'll hear. Both normal...

We really, really need our own forum and e-mail lists. There's not a lot in this forum that is helpful to 'Original' 100/A6/S4/S6 owners. Who could I send an e-mail to to lend my support to this idea?
