Default Extend. Warranty Change/Timing Belt!

Are there any other members out there that recvd. a note from AUDI stating that the timing belt service be advanced to 120K mi.? Previously, the timing belt serv. was within the 100K mi. warranty.

Default I'm confused.

The official factory repair manual restated the interval for nearly all C5 series cars to 60k abotu 3 years ago. And maintenance service of wear and tear items has never been covered by warranty anyway.

You bet your *** they're telling people that. They're sitting on a pile of new cars and they need you to blow your heads and buy a new one. I wouldn't venture past 60K for anyone it's a rubber belt that wears out on a non clearance engine.

Isn't your car a newer model (C6) with a chain?

they are not "rubber" belts, that comment was ignorant of modern manufacturing techniques.. they are composite belts with kevelar ribs.... actually very sturdy an can EASILY last to 80k with no ill effects on a normal daily driver...

Let's keep it friendly......there are plenty of nicer ways to phrase that than referring to the prior post as "ignorant". Smile!

do you have a reference/print out of that change? I was not aware of a 60k interval for 2.8s, for ex. -- on the 1.8T, yes, but have not heard/seen this on the 2.8 V6

the factory interval was originally 105k; my trusted indep. shop recommends doing them at 80-90k to be safe.
