I have not been on the board for a while so I apoligize if this issue has been covered before. I have an A6 with 39K miles. I have about a year left on my Audi Warranty, but I have been considering buying an extended warranty for later on. I LOVE the car and it has been pretty reliable. I took the car to a delership to see what they will give me in order to see what the car is worth and the guy told me about 17K. I thought about it and I said "no way" I just can't think of a better car to drive for that money, especially considering they wanted about 44K for a new A6. So I am probably better off keeping the car anyway for another 3 years, but considering how expensibve it is to do anything with these cars, I thought about an extended warranty. ANy ideas? How much are these things anyway? THe car has been maintained at Champion Audi is S. Florida basic warranty with all the services provided has been great. The salesperson also told me that new cars do not include any services I got with my 2003. Crazy!

and I haven't had anything happen that was out of the ordinary in terms of service. I've had to replace a CV Boot, Wheel Bearing, and Brake Light Switch which I all consider wear and tear along with oil and brakes.. the usual stuff. If you decide to go with an extended warranty, read the fine print.. warranty companies wouldn't be in business if they where paying out thousands for every customer.

First off..
As far as I know the 4 yr maint plan is still being offered by Audi as of yesterday.
2ndly, about the warramty...
- you could go to your dealer and talk to the business guy, ask him that since the car was ONLY serviced at that dealership, if they are willing to "certify" your car for another 2 yrs after the warranty expires.
Audi USA basically takes bets for $1050.00 per car (I only know about A6) and bets that as long as the dealer checked teh car and brough it up to "certification" standards, they will cover any repairs.
SO, if you have good relationship with your dealer i-e he hopes to get more business from you in the future, he MIGHT Certify your car for say $1500-$2000. That way they will keep a cusotmer loyal and happy, and make a few bucks.
- If the first option doesnt work out, and I suggest NOT mentioning this 2nd option till you exhaust the first one..ask the dealer if they will sell you an extended warranty from a 3rd party.
Reason I say that is because atleast in my state, Once you buy a 3rd party warranty from a dealer, EVEN if the 3rd party goes under the dealer has to honor the original terms of the warranty contract. So as long as you buy the 3rd party warranty from the dealer, you shoudl be in better shape than buying an online warranty.
Hopefully this helps you..
Good luck and keep us posted.

di usually charges north of $100/hr. most of the cost of repairs on these cars are the long labor hrs.
