Default Exterior Temp Sensor/Display (99 A6)

Looking for some help...my exterior temp display in the dash reads 20-30 degrees F to high. I was curious if this would be caused by a bad sensor or bad display. If the sensor is bad, does it affect the internal temperature control? Is this the sensor mounted in front of the radiator behind the front bumper?Any advice on where to find and how to replace the sensor?
Thanks in advance!

Chances are the sensor is bad or the connection to it; check out the connector and your right about the location only two wires to it. The answer to your second question would be no it just shows the out-door temp.

Thanks for the help!!
Would you know if the sensor disconnects from the cable at the sensor, or do I have to follow the cable to where it terminates?

Thanks in advance!!

Unclip Outside Air Temperature Sensor from bracket to free up wire, rotate the sensor half way and you will see the clip. Note: I stand corrected about this sensor after looking at the manual "yes it does play a role with the climate unit along with driver info" which lends suggestions in the manual for repair; shorted or bad sensor or AC control head faulty. I'll send the page from eBahn, G17 is the sensor.

I feel better, I know that the environmental controls in the cabin have been off, the temp never really gets warm, good thing the heated seats work.

Thanks lots for the attachment and explanation!!
