Faulty Fuel Tank Level Indicator - Guarantee??

The above on my '99 2,8 Quattro is indicating full tank independent of the actual fuel level in it. This happened first time a few months back, and I understand the Quattro models have a different tank compared to the 2wd's. The thing is; my car has the auxiliary heating function and this outfit, which is gas driven, is dependent of a correct fuel tank indicator.
Do anyone know whether this could be a guarantee claim or not???

Failing fuel tank sensors were a MAJOR problem in the US, supposedly because of our crappy gas. So it might not have come up in other markets. Go to a good dealership and insist that the techs research the sensor situation in your country.
I had the same sensors replaced twice on my car!
