Febi/Bilstein control arms

Just an FYI on the control arms from Pure Motorsports. Bought the set of eight two years ago but did not install them until last year. So long story made short, upper ball joint is already loose and making noise. So buyer beware. One year and 10,000 miles and looking at replacement again. Any other experiences like this with the Febi kits from Pure Motorsports or any other place? Obviously a badly made part but no help from Pure Motorsports.

Nothing special. Nor Cal car. No severe service. Had Meyle replacement the first time and they did not last more than 25,000 mi. Thought that Febi would be an upgrade. Bought them late 2008. Ended up waiting and having them professionally installed about one year ago. After 10,000 mi. or so started hearing the dreaded clunking. Inspected them and found one upper ball joint loose and another marginal. I will be going OEM this time.

thanks for the added info, but what i meant was more info on your displeased ( or i took it as such) remark about Pure MS...."not being of any help". No specific reason, i just track what vendors are good and otherwise.
For the record - my TREs (S6) both began to fail around 55k. Did two CAs (upper) at same time because a goon had damaged the boots (long story, goon gone).
Under 70k now, still very tight. All OEM replacements. I fear that doing all the CA takes out good OEM joints and replaces them with suspicious joints from [fill in the name of kit that is reported bad then good then bad].
I expect to do more so i do care.

The vendor, Pure Motorsports, just said that since I waited to install that it was outside the one year window. Seemed disinterested in really helping with the distributor where he gets the parts from or in interfacing with Febi\bilstein just to let them know of a faulty part. Just reiterated how "rare" failures of these parts are. Well the post facto research shows otherwise, as you already know. Vendors don't really want to do anything other than sell you another part. Guess that might just be par for the course. They just didn't seem interested in any of the details. YMMV.

PureMS seem like they're good dudes, they recently had a sale here for members to set things straight since they goofed something. Maybe you should contact them through the forum and see if they'll set things straight. Who knows maybe the person you talked to was just some worthless dick working the phones over there.

And I have had pretty good experiences with ECS.
To be honest, i typically patronize my local friendly Indie, even though eh costs more. he is fair, knowledgeable, honest, and here.
