Just bought an 01 A6 Avant--amazing car! Good to be back with VAG (had an 00 GTI for many years). After searching forums for way too many hours, still a few questions:

- Has anyone successfully retrofitted a non-seat memory car to have seat memory? (found thread but no conclusion...)

- Anyone know if the wiring harness is the same between all cars--for example, if I want to install an auto-dimming mirror inside on a non-premium package car, will the connector be there?

no there is no connector in mirror housing or wiring done if your car came without it from factory..

Audi does not install harnesses for features that are not there. If you try to retrofit, expect to install the full harness (fun!). There will be no peeking under the carpet to find the end of a factory harness.

Personal opinion: I have no idea what the cheap bastards at Audi were thinking when they decided to delete the memory seats from some A6 models. A car of this caliber should come standard with memory seats (rant/off)

you can find a simple model. I'm not sure what the wiring is like on the Audi EC mirrors, but I retrofitted a GenTex (OEM supplier to multiple car brands) rearview mirror on a different car and it was quite easy. Just a switched 12V power line and a ground. Everything else was in the mirror housing itself.

As for side mirrors, that may be a different story.

You guys just saved me hours of searching for connectors.. thanks! Woulda thunk it was cheaper for one harness on all cars.

I noticed memory seats and rain sensing wipers weren't even listed as options on the 01 A6 according to the specs here at audiworld. Anyone have 'em?

Although it says the 01 A6 has a symp II radio, too, which doesn't appear to be the case.

..you can easily add the interior auto-dimming compass mirror in your car....

I think I have one tan/beige one from a B6 A4 left in my inventory. Drop me a line if you wan it.

A couple of names come to mind that I KNOW have their stock seats:

But, both are cblack interiors, and I have no idea what color seats you are seeking.
