The retro craze is dying...overpriced, underpowered, pseudo-retro cars are fading away fortunately.
Ford announced the demise of the T-Bird, although they are waiting until 2005-6 to officially kill it (I think because it will take 3 years to get rid of the current inventory!)
What is next?
The PT Cruiser?
The New Beetle?
The Mini?
Probably not, they are smaller and cheaper...but it may contribut to some other retro-concepts to not make it to market.

I'd have to say the beetle.
The PT Cruiser has done reasonably well. The mini, while banking a bit on nostagla seems to be a nice car and the europeans seem to be liking it.
The beetle was mainly a US car, the europeans never really cared for it. That's the one I see going away eventually.
Both the PT Cruiser and Beetle do a lot of platform sharing (Neon/Golf) so it's not a big deal mechanically

It goes away after next year. Can you believe it? A mere 6 months after they were first seen in showrooms, they announce that they're pulling the pin. Were they actually surprised that people weren't flocking to showrooms to buy a car available only in black, with no moonroof (initially, at least), with much too little low-end torque, and seats that feel worse than any I've ever sat in?
