Default Fitment of HP2 calipers on A6 2.8 Quattro...

I've managed to source a pair of new HP2 callipers with associated disks, pads and will be retrofitting these onto my A6 2.8 Quattro Avant (yr 99). My question is, will they fit beneath the standard 7 x 16" ET45 5 spoke alloy wheels?

Default I doubt they'll fit. You're also going to need new hubs/spindles....

Unless you got them for free, it's probably better to get one of the aftermarket "big brake kits".

This begs the question: why?

Default Like he said...

There are also at least two HP variants--the 4.2 and some 2.7T with the deeper offset to the rotors, and most 2.7T's and S4's with the smaller (16.7mm) offset. 4.2's also have the aluminum suspension bits throughout and the lightweight wheel bearing assemblies; those were a running change I think only in later style updated non-4.2's. Not sure how the outer CV joint and ABS sensor pick up in turn relate to that.

Net, you could end up changing all kinds of stuff as you try to sort through this.

Default RE: HP2 on A6 2.8 Quattro...

I obtained these new callipers, disks and pads for free(long story!) and believed if neively that they would be a straight replacement - I'm I wrong then.

Default The wheels should fit if they're the A6 2.7T non-sport 5 spokers. As the others said, though,

the brakes are not plug 'n play. Search the B5 A4 forum, and a lot of those guys put hand-me-down B5 S4 brakes on.

Your car came with the wineglass wheels, though, right? The 5 spokes were standard on the 2.7T non-sport, so they will fit. I *think* there was an A4 version, as well, that probably will not fit.

I put A8 rotors and TT caliper carriers on my A4. Substantially improved braking.
