Default Flames out exhaust in the upper rpm range...... is this normal?

I was ahead of my buddy in a 05 Corvette the other day. Pulling on to a main highway, I knew he was going to pass me once we got out there so I stepped on it to see how I would fair.... I held my own for about 2 seconds and then he blew by me. We get to work the next day and he tells me there were flames / sparks coming from the exhaust of my car.... what gives? I don't notice any running problems. Only thing wrong with the car that I know of is that the engine light is on for the secondary air system. Any thoughts?

Default i hope he was joking...unless your A6 has afterburners WOOSH

your a6 spits out that much excess fuel and other toxic goodies that catch on fire on the way out of your exhaust? u better be hitting 500+ bhp

re-post of sorts

Default If he was not joking... what would cause such a thing? Time to change 02 sensors? MAF?

2.7T, car has 112K, original 02 sensors & MAF. What else would cause a weird fuel air mixture? Vaccume leak?

Default I used to shoot flames with my Corrado.. It ran very rich at mid range, and had no cat....

it would flame on every upshift. But never when on the throttle.

I guess your friend was pulling your leg.

Default My CQ would do that if I shifted from 1st-2nd quickly enough with a hot exhaust. :)

The exhaust I had on it had 'DTM' tips...they point up at about 30-45 degrees. I would occasionally see a fireball in the rear windshield at night.
I miss my hot rod.

At the track I've had reports of 3-5' flames coming out of my pipes when I come off throttle
