Default Found some S6 abuse! I can never leave my wife alone again! ;)

Apparently while I was away in NY for a couple days, the wife gave both cars a good beating. The more significant (above) was from a sort of bottoming out episode on the streets of San Francisco. She vaguely remembers the episode but didn't think anything had happened. I noticed it today as I had the car parked in the driveway on the upslope where I could see its naked underbelly...all I could think was "holy ****" thinking I had done it during the Audi drive a few weeks back...but I distinctly remember looking closely after that and it was clean.

The second, less significant episode, was as the wife was bringing some "stuff" in from the car she scratched the right rear fender on the rear of the fender flare. Very mild, just an inch or so, very light...I wouldn't have noticed until I did a deep clean and wax and would've assumed it was from some parking lot choad. She was terrified to tell me when I got home...I looked at it and said "eh...whatever"...she was stunned. I can probably get it out, otherwise it is unnoticeable.

The S6 is another thing...strangely, when I scrape my fingernail across it, I seem to be able to remove a lot of the white...I'm not really sure what it is...there seems to be paint under it...I'm gonna get a better look on Saturday when I change the oil. The area to the rear is scraped all the way through to the black plastic...but what the hell is this white stuff? Oddly, I didn't have even the slightest hint of anger within me...hmmm, I must be getting old It's fixable...in some way at least...whatever, it's just money.

Any suggestions?

Default You might want to try some...

Nail polish remover on the white stuff on your paint. It should come right off. After that give it a nice wash with some dish soap to make sure you wash it off really nice and put a layer of wax on there to protect your paint. I did that on my black car after I... accidentally... hit the corner of the garage. But it fixed it just fine since there were no actual scratches on the bumper, just garage paint. Let me know how it goes

Or maybe - time to leave your wife :-) Better - give her the bill.

Default My bumper cover is a mess underneath, and getting chipped due to lack of blue tape...

I figure I'll replace it half way through the life of the car, or when I can no longer ignore the damage. I figure the money is well spent Iif it allows me to stop anguishing over the gradual degradation (I'm even buying some spare wheels so I don't have to get it repaired next time I hit a curb!).

Perhaps then, I'll pop for RS6 body parts all around the car? As long as I'm painting body parts, they might as well be something interesting.

For now, I have to get near the front of the car to see the chips, and have to bend way over to see the underside scrapes. So, instead, I stand back and appreciate the car's silhouette!

Anyway, that's what you get for letting her drive her own car!

Default WHAT!!! There was no blue tape there, I think you'll have to totaly cover your S6 now! ;-)

If it goes off with your fingernail, it will go easily with wax, I think so.

Default That's simple to take care of. The white stuff is most probably

the chalky residue from an older concrete parking block. It probably became effervescent (sp?) and left it's mark on the bumper.

Try some old fashioned DuPont No 7 polishing compound on it, and all the paint should come off. Remember to use straight line motions only.
For the scratch in the fender, any good polish should do it. Unless you have someone machine buff the scratch away, it will come back after your wax wears off.

I find that my Pinnalce Paste Glaz works great for scratches like that. I use the paint cleansing lotion (mild polish) to remove as much as I can, then the Paste Glaze covers the rest up completely.

The Paste Glaz works best on red cars. My wife's GA has benefitted tremendously from PPG. Being a former rental car, it used to have swirl marks a plenty on it. A few treatments with my Pinnacle products and many of them are gone. I will have to break down and machine buff the car, but in the meantime, it looks good enough to pass.

Default I'll bet she was driving wrecklessly in order to keep up with Don Johnson.;-)

FWIW, for the bumper underbelly would probably benefit from some of that cheapo colored wax you can find at most auto stores.

It's yucky stuff, but fine for plastic underbellies where it is "close" to real color.

Default OMG....NEVER use a machine to buff.....it's okay to apply processes and waxes with a random

orbital, but buffing WILL leave swirls and scratches.

left on long enough.

Default Re: She must think you're the most manly of all men

to have reacted the way you did. Believe you me, your (lack of) reaction will pay huge dividends in the long run. WTG "Chief"

Could the white stuff be intersection paint?
