Friend just got a '99 A6 2.8. She's looking for rim ideas. Little help?

Friend just got a '99 A6 2.8. She's looking for rim ideas. Little help?
I'm pumped, she got a gorgeous red A6 and can't wait for tint and new rims / tires.
Trouble is, i know *nothing* about A6's.
I believe she has stock 16" rims right now.
Is there anything special i need to know before looking around? Any special offsets needed for A6's? Can you fit 17's or 18's w/out rubbing?
Anyone with any specific rims that might look nice?

Tons of great looking wheels for the A6--try TireRack and Ronal for ideas.-->
anything beyond 17" is for cosmetics as there is no improvement in performance. 17 X 8" with et35mm offset is most common in aftermarket wheels for the A6.

I prefer an odd number of spokes (so that the car doesn't seem static) and thick ones, preferably to beef up the A6's sweet look.
