Front Bumper torn off by curb
I thought I heard that this was a known problem. I pulled up to the curb at a place I go all the time and didn't hear anything but when I backed out the middle of the bumper caught on the curb and ripped it partway off and broke it in the middle. Is this something that Audi will fix? I have a 99 A6 Avant still under warranty from the Audi Assured program.

I just did that a few weeks ago (actually my wife did). There was....
.... a recall where Audi would agree to change something underneath to make it less likely to happen. But I had the recall done and it did not save my bumper.
You can ask, but I suspect you will not get any help from Audi.
It's not a cheap fix ($1,300 is what I paid). Good luck. Mine got ripped almost completely off.

I would try to have Audi reimburse you. It's definitely worth a shot.
My Service Advisor told me that Audi paid out quite a bit of money to reimburse those who had experienced this unfortunate event.
A recall was issued, but after having my vehicle serviced under the recall, I question it's effectiveness. I checked underneath the front bumper and could find no noticeable supports, brackets, guides, or anything at all. I suspect that if I went to far over a bumper stop or curb, the same thing would happen to me.
Since a recall was issued, we can assume AoA is admitting fault. You should be able to make a good case with this in mind.
When Merck pulled Vioxx of the shelves, it told the same message. Now they are expecting $20 billion USD in settlements to be paid out.

It is true! See attached pic, letter E.

Yes. It really only took the shop about three days to do it.
Came out better than new. I thought about going with an aftermarket RS6-looking nose, but the body shop warned me that it might not fit, and it will crack very easily.

After the recall, I could find no evidence that anything was changed.
And mine ripped off quite nicely.
I wonder, though, whether this means that they'll fix the bumper. The way I see it, they did a recall (whatever that accomplished) but they did not guaranty that it would not fail.
