Default Front central Armrest......

latch problem...well the spring (I think) is broken. I have done some searching but I may be using the wrong key words. I used "armrest" and "latch" but I get mostly posts about the rear armrest. Any hints? I am going to check the tech pages here in a moment. My apologies if I completely over looked a previously written discussion.

Thanks,

Default Is it stuck closed and you cannot open it, or will it not latch shut?

either way, you are probably going to have to replace it. Not sure if there is a handy DIY repair on the latch for the armrest cover.

Dealership will charge you $$$. Best to find one from a parts recycler (www.car-parts.com).

What year and color?

Default it will no longer latch shut

It will latch but I remember it being somewhat springy...if that makes sense. Right now I have to kind of push the latch down so that it catches. So I am thinking that the spring in there popped...so I want to try and fix it without replacing the entire armrest.

Default Hmmm...maybe...

...you can remove the armrest so you can look closely at the latch mechanism. It is not too hard to remove (see link below for how to remove it). Perhaps a good cleaning is all it needs

As far as repairing it, I do not recall anyone ever trying. Internal armrest parts are not available separately, so usually the whole armrest is replaced if broken.

...how to remove the armrest...
