Fuel level Sending units: Class action lawsuit..

Audi does not make the senders. I have not heard any evidence that the manufacturer has actually fixed the problem yet. Would you prefer that your car be dismantled every 3 months replacing a poorly-designed part, or can you live with an inconvenience until the design is robust? And as far as reimbursement for expenses, doesn't everyone get a AAA card to call for a can of gas if the tank runs dry?

And people still post that their new senders are still failing. My point is, why would anyone want to force Audi to install a part on their car when that part is also known to fail? Why not be content with waiting for a true fix, then opening up the tank only once?

My suggestion is that the ever-present threat of lawsuits by the hovering hordes of hungry lawyers caused Audi to act in haste, but perhaps not wisely.

Of course, lawyers say that without this incentive, they wouldn't pursue these cases in the first place.
Hey I know, let's pass some more laws! shall we cap fees on class action suits?

worked out about the same without the legal action. I suspect a firm of class-action vultures heard about this problem and pounced on it as easy money. Overall, the free market will "keep companies in line". If they don't take care of consumers, they consumers will take their business elsewhere. Don't misunderstand. I certainly believe that lawyers and even class actions are appropriate in some situations. I just think this was a pretty lame one.

Yeah, let's set the fee at the average amount given each victim.
