Default Re: Hmmm, $27.5k is WAY too high for a car that is

NO! i just want my monies worth in a car. Audi should be ashame. for the cost audis should be better than a toyota or honda in repair or brake downs. I again say i love my audi when it is not in the service bay!

Default that is not a desirable color either...

at least that is what my dealer told me you have to take into account when selling. its all about desirability. maybe you could get 22k

Default More money does not = more reliability. Compared to other German cars, Audi's reliability is...

comparable. I do my own work, so a few "issues" don't bother me. I also buy them used, because from past experience, Audis resale value generally isn't real great. I purchased my A6 2.7T one year and 12k miles from new. The original owner lost a dollar a mile on his purchase price in resale.

To me, an Audi turbo quattro is the ideal car for the climate that I live in and my life style. I haven't found any other car with the performance and German styling and "feel" that Audis have.

Yes, the dealers tend to be bad (no need for me to see them), the resale sucks (don't buy new and keep them a long time), and there are some niggling problems (I get to learn about my car & get a lower purchase price).

I take it that you have not had other European cars, or you wouldn't have the expectations that you have. That's not to say that you are not justified in your frustration, just unrealistic. That's just the way it is...

FWIW, all six of my previous Audis were/are going strong well after 100k miles. Two of them are over 300k last I heard.

Default blue book overstates retail value and understates trade-in value, a stealership's best friend. LONG

ACTUAL Manheim Auction Results: add fees (use 1.5%) and this is WHOLESALE value of comparable models. Mileage follows winning bid paid by a licensed car dealer who will then resell the car for a 10-20% markup. Your car is worth less than full dealer retail, you are not a dealer.

Default If you just went through those changes...

You might as well drive on.

European cars seem to go through thier midlife crisis which once you get past them they carry right on. And end up in better shape than the other cars.

Default The QX4 is dead because of the FX and it is old...

unbelievably, Infiniti is continuing the old and nearly dead I35 even though it has no market given the relative success of the G35.

Default Unfortunately, $27,500 is ~$3-5k too high (IMO) for an '00 with 66k...

but I hope you get it...

Your problems with your Audi are minor, IMO...of course the risk is something major happening out of warranty. I will be facing the same issue in 2 years when the S6 warranty is up...we'll see if we still keep it...it's been pretty reliable so far.

Sounds like you want another 1997 Toyota. FX45 may not be better than the Audi.

Default Re: FX 45 thinking of trading A6 4.2 2000 due to..

I have owned three Q 45s. This is my first Audi. I have not really tested Audi service yet(loaner cars, etc.), but I do know that Infiniti service is the best there is. (Lexus is just as good I am told) Always a loaner even for the most minor problem. If they had had a sedan with AWD and fold down rea seats I would have stayed with them for the service alone. But the A6 is a great car...Hope the service proves to be too.

Default Go for it! Same basic engine as my M-45. Much better than Audi's 4.2 V8, IMO.. (more)

Go for an '04, if you can. I understand it is a little less rough riding. On the Infinity web site, I regularly see people discussing 100,000 mile service (like on Q's) and all they ever do is flush transmission, do plugs, and other minor stuff. Fuel pumps seem to go about 130,000 or so, and, surprisingly- never any mention of: oil leaks, water pumps, rotors, electronics, radios, or instruments, or tie rod ends, boots, etc until about 150,000 to 200,000 miles.
