Audi reportedly having development difficulties with RS6 (04/05/2001)
Audi has run into development difficulties with its upcoming A6-based RS6, according to supplier sources close to the German carmaker's Quattro division. The RS6, due next year in sedan and wagon forms, will be powered by a twin-turbo-charged, 460-hp all-alloy V8 engineered in cooperation with Cosworth Technology--the British- based company behind the RS4's powerplant.
However, intense heat buildup at full throttle has hampered the latest road tests, and is said to be forcing a rethink on the underhood cooling due to the melting of brake components and other crucial parts.
