A while ago, I asked for assistance for my askew gas filler flap. I received some kind suggestions, which are appreciated. Not that this is a big deal, but for any who might not know, and who experience the same thing, this is what happened:
The flap would no longer lie flush when the car was unlocked, and couple of times the bolt which holds the flap when locked, failed to catch the eye, and pushed the flap out. I made sure when I next locked the car that the bolt secured the eye. The flap was still slightly askew, but after repeating this a few times, the flap again lay flush whether locked or unlocked. I think this was caused by a gas station attendant pushing on the flap to try to get it to "catch" when shutting it. It doesn't have anything to catch on, and depressing it this way is evidently the cause of it going askew. Without a diagram of the mechanism that provides tension for the flap, I'm not sure why this happens, but evidently this mechanism eventually returns to normal without continued misuse.
