Got my H&R coilovers installed...
yesterday. What a difference. Probably a little harsh for the average A6 buyer, however, I think the ride is perfect. They are actually pretty comfortable and the handling and aesthetic improvement are significant. I'll post pictures later. As a side note, one of the mechanics drove my car after installation and commented that my car's transmission and throttle felt extremely quick compared to other 4.2s he has driven... it's gotta be the GIACs.

I am very interested; wonder if you can help me sort out my concerns
I currently have the Eibach springs with stock shocks on my 2.7 manual and really didn't like the progressive springs as they stiffen up really quick when hitting big bumps and felt the damping is inefficient for aggressive driving. Therefore, I am thinking about either going to coil-over or just adding Koni shocks. Did you have similar situation/experience??? or u just went straight from stock to coil over.
I am really concern about the ride getting harsh as they will quicky wear out the suspension components and make the body and interior panels loose. what is your opion on that?
Thanx

Did you have a sport package suspension to start with?
Or was it a non-sport suspension car? Just curious if your inital reaction was coming from your familiarity with a standard A6 cushy luxury boat ride or the sport-package's more-controlled, higher-performance ride.
Just like you, the coilover setup is the way I would do it, if and when I go that route. I am 90% pleased with the stock sport package setup w/ 17" wheels that I have now.

Want to know what the H&R coil-overs are like on a 2.7T? Have
you driven a new S6...very similar ride with the S6 being a "touch" firmer. The difference from stock dampers worn out by Eibach sport-springs to the H&R coil-overs is night and day. If you feel the factory sport suspension should be the standard suspension and there should be a "sport suspension" then this will meet those needs.
Some may find the H&R coil-overs "firm", but I feel the car can easily take a better-tuned suspension system without sacrificing any smooth, comfortable ride for passengers.
To see what I mean, find someone with a S4 with any STaSIS suspension. That system must simply be experienced to be believed. Josh D's S4 with STaSIS coil-overs (700# fronts and 800# rear springs) gives one of the best sport sedan rides I have ever driven.
I have the H&R coil-overs and, next to the S6, is the best A6 suspension I have driven...but I think you can guess what system I am waiting for.
