Default Looking good; about the lowering

Well, if you think about the ride is fine now and don't want to go firmer then just go ahead and ignor the height because lowering will significantly firm up the ride even more especially when you don't have the sport package. There are always compromises to make. You look better in 18" but lowering the ride will deteriorate the ride. 17" seem like best compromise in ride/handling only when you pull up next to someone riding on a bigger wheel and hoping you had moved to 18" ro 19" because they just look better.

As far as rubbing, don't have that problem with my and I have the 8.5 wide rims with 235 tires as well.

Default Here's the scoop re: center caps.

I got the Audi part number from Gary at Ronal. For the R7, he said to get 8DO-601-170-A-7ZJ. I ordered a set of 4 from my local parts department for $16.90 ea. (+ tax). List is supposedly $20.28 ea., and Gary said he could have sold them to me for around $29 ea. Go figure. Here's a picture of one of the caps.

Note that the rings are raised, but not chromed. Otherwise, the caps are identical to the ones in my just-removed 16" wine glass wheels. I much prefer the chromed rings (see the pic below), so I ended up using the old caps which are in as-new condition. I'm sure they're also available through the parts department, but I don't have their part number.

I guess I'll put my new all-gray caps on the 16" wheels and try to sell the set. The tires still have a lot of life left.

I don't remember any ride complaints about Eibachs, just about stock non-sport floaty ride.

Default No rubbing with 18s

I don't have rubbing with Eibach springs/dampers, an 18x8 wheel, and 235/40/18 tire, and I don't think that has been a problem anyone here has had who has switched to the Eibach springs (meaning the Eibach Pro-kit spring or the Audi/Eibach spring, which are the same spring) and a 235 tire. I do recall seeing some rubbing complaints with 245+ tires.

Default Great Looking Car but be careful with rims

Hey great looking car :-)
Have the same wheels with Toyo T1s 245/40zR18. The rims came with the car straight from the dealership summer last yr. But I have to warn you, you have to drive very very careful. Here is my post about the Ronals R7s.

My Ronal Post

Is your car lowered? If so, with what hardware and by how much?

Default Re: My R7's have bent too.

I consider myself a very careful driver and I am always on the lookout for bumps/potholes. But thus far I have bent two wheels. It seems to bend on the rim, causing the rim to flare out and appear flat from the side view. I also, am very disappointed with these wheels. I thought they would hold up better then this. I run at least 40 psi on all the tires and this still happens.

For now I am getting the rim fixed (straightened) at a local rim shop.
