I know this is a tough question for you to answer but I am about to get a PST 2.7t and I need to know if my butt won't fit. I am 6' tall and weigh 170#, 33" waist. Do I sound bigger or smaller than you guys who don't fit in the sport seats? I love the stock seats but I find that I slide around a lot when cornering. I had the same problem in my 740il so I guess my butt must be smaller than what they were designed for.

My wife says my butt's not big, but the Audi says it is. I'm 6'1 215lbs, 36" waist and these seats kill me after 45 mins. Before this starts to sound like we're dating I'm signing off.

You're right about the C5's tall 6th gear. It's .50 to 1, and the rearend on a C5 is like a 3.54, where the A6 is a 4.11. My A6 pulls harder in 6th at highway speeds than the C5, but the mileage difference is significant. 32mpg vs 26mpg
I've got the same seat problem as your friend. I have to pull my wallet out if I'm on a trip. I'm 5'11, 200lbs w/ a 36inch waist. Haven't measured the butt lately
The sport seats in my C5 are much more comfortable, but there was no way I was getting the A6 w/ the base suspension, way too soft.
If you want to try a short through shifter, give your C5 friend a ring and see if he'll let you go for a spin. After driving the A6 this winter I can hardly find the gears in the C5![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You're report makes me want a chip even more, even though you you're leaning away from chipping. I just wish we could get a separate ECU for the 01's .

6'2" 225 lbs. The sport seats snug, but I like them. I recently sat in an Allroad at the dealer and the seats seemed compartively huge but without much lateral support.
I also think that they break in to a noticible degree. But really, try and spend some time in both to really figure out which you like better. They are quite different.

Good write-up Steve, I have a chipped 2.7 6spd and you hit all my reactions except: the car does have to be chipped. I switch back and forth between the stock and GIAC chip when I go to the dealer and there is quite a difference.
For highway driving I never down shift to pass. I'm on I-84 in CT every month or so and frequently get stuck behind someone doing 65 in the left lane. On hills where the road widens to 3 lanes to provide a slow vehicle lane all the goobers are in left and middle lanes and the "slow" lane is empty. Just a touch on the peddle, certainly not flooring it, and heading to that empty right lane gets the car from 65 or 70 to 90 plus in just a few seconds, going up hill!
It just feels like a down shift.
And as I've said here before, the chip gets rid of 50% or more of the turbo lag. That alone justifies it.
