Default Got a Zender rear Spoiler??

I just received one as an early Christmas gift! Already painted Irish Green, yet! Thanks to my lovely and loving wife.

Question for those who have self-installed one of these. How much adhesive should I (did you) use? Instructions mention a recess for it, but there isn't one! Just a bead at the edges, maybe?

I've posted detailed step by step in the past. It's not very hard. You really don't have to go to a body shop. 30 minutes tops if you follow these steps. (2 people would make it breeze, I did mine alone) Have plenty of 3X3 pieces of torn sheets or towels that you can use once or twice and discard.

1) prep the spoiler, by sanding the edge lightly that will contact the car.

2) Use the cleaner with the kit to prep the paint surface.

3)dry fit the spoiler. tape over the ends into the trunk to hold it in place. do this well or risk having it fall off.

4) using masking tape (long runs) mask all around
about 1/4 inch back from spoiler edge.

3) mask again over top 1st tape layer, but this time up tight to spoiler.

4) Remove spoiler and clean sanded edge with cleaner provided. Wipe down the area inside your masked area again with cleaner.

5) using newspaper or whatever expand the covered area. do not infringe on your top layer of tape.

6) lay a generous bead of adhesive on the sanded spoiler edge, use the little tool to press it in place and create the notches in the adhesive from the tool. Use less near the logo cutout.

7) Put a couple of big globs of adhesive in the center of the spoiler at severl points along it's length.

8) Position the spoiler and firmly press in place.

9) Tape the spoiler in place over the ends of the spoiler and into the trunk. Note: Lots of adhesive will squeeze out on the top layer of masking.

10) Remove the top layer of masking along with all of the excess glue. Have a grocery bag or something close at hand to toss the soiled tape in.

11) Use the 3X3 pieces of sheet soaked with prep liquid to dress the bead of adhesive nice and tight up to the spoiler edge. keep tossing the used ones in the trash bag. The glue will get everywhere if you are not diligent.

12) Work lengthwise top and bottom edges, saving the ends for last (where your tape is) Remove all masking top and bottom. Wipe up deck lid with prep liquid.

13) Add tape, now lengthwise (perpendicular with the spoiler) at several points across the width of spoiler. Holds spoiler in place.

14) Remove the original end tape and masking. Clean up excess adhesive on the leaning up the 3" ends. Retape.

15) use prep liquid to clean the entire area that might have adhesive present.

16) Allow to cure overnite.

17) Remove tape next day and re-wax any surface wiped with prep liquid.

18) Mine has been in place solid as a rock for 32K miles, almost 3 years.

19) the 17 steps above represent how I would do it again the 2nd time. My first try was not this slick, even dropped the spoiler during the dry fit stage. Had lots of black goo on me and the car. The prep liquid is wonderful, won't hurt the paint but cuts the adhesive like a hot knife through butter. You can visit my web site posted and see photos if you like.
