how long will he last at VW, and how will he change styling?
(Automotive News Europe) VW group named Murat Günak, design chief for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and commercial vehicles, as head of design for its VW, Skoda and Bentley brands.
Günak, 45, starts his new job on April 1, 2003. He will report to Hartmut Warkuss, 62, head of design for the entire VW group. VW said Günak is expected to become Warkuss' successor at a later date.
Günak began his career at Mercedes in the late 1970s. He left in 1983 to take a position at the Ford Design Center in Cologne. He went back to Mercedes in 1986, where he contributed to the A class and SLK, but again left to become design head at Peugeot in 1994. Günak returned to Mercedes once more in 1998.
