Default Had the chance to watch a 2.7t in action yesterday <edited>

We were in a 50mph zone stuck behind a mazda rx7 going 30mph. After about a half mile of being trapped back there, a second lane opens up. The other A6 driver and I both changed lanes to get past the mazda. When the mazda saw what was happening, he floored it. The other A6 and I kept the speed limit, and the mazda started to pull away (exceeding the speed limit) The guy acted like he really wanted to stay ahead of us, then the light ahead of us changed to red.

We all had to stop, so, there we were,,, 2 A6 2.7's, one behind the other in the fast lane, next to this 1980 something mazda "sports" car. Dude was looking at the A6 in front of me and revving his rotary noise maker, and I was trying to gauge what the A6 driver in front of me was going to do.

Luckily, he had in mind what I hoped he had in mind cause what I had in mind was to blow by the mozda and merge back into the right hand lane before the lane we were in became a left turn only lane.

The light changed, and I started off easy, just in case,,, The mazda belched a plume of black smoke and the race was on... The A6 driver must have waited a half second to see what the mazda was going to do, cause he started off easy too, but then I saw the rear end of his A6 drop down 3, maybe 4 inches, and a puff of smoke come from his exhaust, and I could tell he was going for it,,, so I punched it. The A6 opened a 2 car length lead on me by the time I could react, but then I stayed right with him.

The mada had a half car on the car in front of me by the time he floored it, but that lead went away in an instant. I passed the mazda just as I shifted to 2nd gear. By the time we both hit third gear, (still just barely 5 mph over the speed limit) the mazda was a distant memory.

At the next light, I had to turn left... I looked over at the other A6 driver as I passed him (he had to go straight and traffic was stopped in that lane), and he was grinning like a kid with a new bike. The mazda never caught up to us.

Seeing the way the rear dropped and the car just took off,, it was almost more fun getting to watch the A6 take off than having the chance to blow the doors off the crappy mazda... what was that guy thinking.

Default Another ricer bites the dust...

I have been patiently waiting for my first stoplight encounter with a corvette. I want to see how the stage III stands up to that challenge :-)

Default Why would somebody who was going 30 speed-up to prevent someone else from passing?? ...

I will never understand some people.

Don't get me wrong, if I am doing 70 in the fast lane and you come flying up on my *** doing 100 before I have a chance to move over you are going to have to go by me on the right because I am not moving.

Also, if there is nowhere for me to go because I am passing slower traffic myself, you are going to have to wait for me to get by the slower traffic (and I would appreciate you do it without flashing your lights or riding my ***).

Other than those two circumstances, if you want to do 100 (and I am not saying that you do), I certainly don't have anything to say about it.

Default I think the majority in the US have too much ego or too little sense to practice lane discipline.

It's like rear-view mirrors were just for looks.

I just love the people who force you to pass on the right, then speed up when you try to do so. I asked someone about this (he does it all the time) and he said "no one should be going faster than me." What an a-hole.

Default When you use cruise control, ever notice how people speed up when you approach?

I've been on long drives with the cruise set at a fixed speed, and had the same person pass me, and get passed by me, 6 or 7 times.

If they are on their cell, you can double the number of times you'll pass each other
