Default Had an interesting and irritating thing happen yesterday while filling up the fuel tank..

when I started, it was just under 1/2 tank. I was watching the pump go up past 10, then 11, then 12 gallons.. I thought to myself, where the heck is it going? I looked, and it wasn't pouring out of the car..

Finally the nozzle clicked off, and as I pulled it out of the filler hole, gas literally sprayed out, under pressure. I'd estimate that over 1/2 gallon, if not more, flowed out of the filler and onto the ground. Who knows how much went into the carbon canister. Lovely.

Went in, and told the toothless attendant, who didn't seem to care that there was a puddle of gasoline on the ground, or that the pump didn't shut off as it should.

I was a little surprised too that the nozzle made such a good seal in the filler that it allowed the pump to pressurize the fuel tank of the car.

Default Too bad you didn't get it on tape.. It would make a great ad for why you shouldn't

smoke while filling up (which I still see people doing.)

Default Unbelievable.....anyone who has ever experienced the joy of gasoline fumes igniting....

....understands why that is *such* a dumb thing to do.

Default And the problem is most likely with your gas tank

spit back like that is not necessarily a problem with the gas pump.

I forget the specifics but find out why tomorrow morning at work and post them up.

Quite your whining until you've had it happen with diesel fuel

Default One of my favorite teachers told us a story about setting himself on fire.

He was working in one of those places that has a viewing window, and he managed to start his uniform on fire while working under a lift. I know it sounds bad, but I had to LOL when I heard that story. The thought of a customer watching a fat Italian guy run around on fire while trying to drop his pants made me laugh It makes him laugh too.. He can't believe some of the stupid *** things he did when he was younger.
