Default Had a little fun last night....

Escort was having a sale, so I picked up a GTimer while back, this was the first I had some time to find a safe spot and mess around with it.

First run is stock ECU - 3/4 tank of gas, stock exhaust, a lame launch, Air conditioning is off, about 75 degrees out.

Second run, Chipped ECU, and a decent launch, everything else the same.

Best $$ I ever spent! Not bad for a big ole 4 door sedan! Hope to get the exhaust figured out in the next week or so and will do the same kind of runs to see what, if any difference it makes, maybe a run in the 13s?

With the ideas that I've had dancing in my head, this is the last thing I needed to see.

Had a Gtech back in the day; it was fun but not quite as accurate as the good ol' dragstrip.

Default What kind of difference did you see?

Did you find the dscrepency to be very significant, statistically or otherwise? Or did you get "fair" readings from the Gtech?

Default Nothing too big at this point (apr or giac) I'm trying to be "sensible" with the A6. Oddly enough..

it is the only car that I've owned for any length of time, that has not run 12's.

Default the gtech was always consistent if you set it up correctly

NASAracer and I used the gtech on the street and at the drags. We would make sure it was set up as best as we could. Level and straight, in fact 1 of us would stand in front of the car while the other positioned the gtech on the window to make sure it was right.
It would read within .05 at the 1/4 mile and was usually 2 mph higher than the timeslip. Maybe how they calculate, drags do a 60' before/after thing and gtech does it right at the 1/4 mile.
A Tip would work better with the gtech than a stick. If you have the violent up and down shifting motion it would throw off the gtech some from the timeslip.
A gtech is great to compare mod to mod installs.

TO get a good street reading just make a run in both directions and average it.
A guess would be that 0-60 times are just a hair optimistic, maybe a tenth or two.
