Here are pictures of my hardwire installs to the switched fuse outlet.
Total install time is about 30 minutes.
$10 worth of material from Radio Shack.
1 Pair of crimping pliers, 8mm socket for access to panel under steering wheel.
1. Coat hanger to fish wire through under dash.

New Valentine One just above the rear view mirror, on when key is on, off when off. Enough wire to take down when necessary but hard to see up there. Wire runs along headliner and down pillar into fuse box. Looks great

I located my detector on the extreme left hand corner of the dashboard and secured it with two small strips of velcro. I spliced the plug to a small-gauge wire that I ran under the detector between the two velcro strips and down to the fusebox through the very small space between the A-pillar and the dashboard. I simply tapped into the fusebox and VOILA! instant protection from the meddling and intrusive radio waves used by those overprotecting blue knights of our highways and byways.
No mess. Very neat and sano (now THERE'S a word from my hot-rod days!) in appearance. Easy to move/remove. Doesn't call attention to itself. All in all a very nice installation, although I think the higher location near the rearview mirror would be a more prudent (read: better point for reception) location for it. I may just move it.
