I haven't really noticed any big difference in performance, a little better gas mileage perhaps.
Just read your above post, and would like to respond to that too: Some of us work, I wouldn't really get too bent out of shape when only 13 people have viewed your question, and no one responded.
BTW have you tinted your tail-lights yet ;0)

After using K&N filters on two cars, I probably never will again. The problem I had was seeing dust in the intake, even with a freshly cleaned and oiled filter that fit perfectly in the housing. I never had this with factory filters.
Try this test. Thoroughly clean the filtered side of the inside of the airbox. Install the washable filter (K&N, whatever). After ~5k miles wipe the inside of the housing with a white cloth and see what you find.
To me, I will sacrifice a couple horsepower for longer engine life. Of course, YMMV...

And you may have to wait more than 30 minutes for an answer...

Tuning forum

Took me almost 10 seconds to find it--there's someone on the performance and tuning forum who's selling his ITG airbox. He posted earlier this morning. I'll bet he's tried it. Maybe you should email him with questions:

free help

I got mine from AWE Tuning at the link below. It is a multicell foam drop-in OEM replacement air filter (as opposed to K&N, which is a cotton gauze type) that is treated with a special dust retaining oil. It flows better than stock but retains the stock airbox. It is unaffected by moisture.
I like mine. It's been in the car for over 25k miles now. I have had it out to clean it (in my utility sink - it was easy). It's a solid piece if you ask me and only costs about $50.
ITG is a British company and supplies filters for many of the Formula 1 and World Rally teams as well as other Motorsports teams in Europe and here. They're not as popular as the K&N here but I believe it to be a superior product.

PS- Sorry I wasn't fast enough for you.
PPS- I owned a modded BMW & was in the BMWCCA and these guys here know their cars better than the bimmerheads do.

http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=28&PEI=6
