Has anybody tried regular water-based artist clay?

why do you want to clay the truck? Just get the buffer out and buy some meguirers finish restorer, then wax it with a acylic based wax

I think what makes clay feel like clay is the particle size and fractal geometry. There's some white clay at HL that looks exactly like $10/oz stuff. If it ends up scratching the truck, no big loss. Neat experiment.
