Default Has anyone converted their a6 dash from concert stereo to symphony 2

Im thinking it might be easier to just do this and install nav + then doing aftermarket hearing of the problems i might undergo. What is involved with putting a new dash to fit the symphony 2 in, while keeping all the climate control, heating units there. Thanks guys this is MUCH appricated!

if u want a cool nav that works great and keep your dash the way it is, climate controls and all. install the new Eclipse touch sceen nav , its so bad ***, covers the whole country, west to east north to south, all the way to Alaska, with one disk. i have it in my A6, and i love it

Default You have a 99 with Concert 1?

Can't be done IIRC. Wait til TeddyBGame wakes up and speaks canon, but my understanding is you're better off working with an aftermarket nav package than trying to retrofit the OEM beasts.

I have the early 99 Bose single DIN Concert with the flip down cover. I just bought a PhatNoise and am happy. I thought about an Avic N-2 but decided to save the cash for other projects.

Default Can't be done. At least, not without major major surgery, if at all.

Do you have an analog clock?

There are basically 3 levels of CAN enablement in the C5: not much (early cars), a little (up to around '00 and the digital clock) and a little more ('02+).

You could probably go to a Symphony I, but going to a Symphony II is huge, if at all possible because the head unit requires CAN. NSX Jr. on the board successfully put a II in his '01 car, and it was definitely not trivial. If you have the old, analog display, I'm not sure you can get there at all.

So, let's say you're OK with a Symphony I. It's a double DIN, and it will still need a new centre faceplate, probably new climate control switches, and moving everything to lower positions.

Check out what PaulW did on his A8. He has a '97 originally with concert, and did major plastic surgery to get double DIN Nav+ installed. And even he didn't try to go to D-Navi Nav+, which is equivalent to the '02+ configuration. He just put in C-Navi because going any newer was too much.

True. If you have the analog clock in your tach face, forget the Symphony II.
