Default Has anyone tried this nanotechnology glass/paint protection

I just got my car back from Audi after a service and they left a leaflet in the car offering a protection that they can apply. They say it uses **nanotechnology** to keep your glass, paint or wheels clean(er) for up to 12 months or 20,000 miles. I'm quite into the idea of doing all the glass, plus the paint at the back to help against "Avant dirty rear-end syndrome".

Anyone here got this kind of treatment?

** I think they're just latching onto a buzzword and haven't fully understood what the term nanotechnology really means, which for me means small machines specially constructed of specific atoms and designed to perform microscopic tasks. Like tiny robots that can repair skin cells, blood cells, cure cancer, replicate to repair organs etc. Something that just repels dirt is a pretty loose attachment to the nanotechnology term.

I use Rain-X on the winders...works great at beading away water. No BTDT with the paint treatments.

Default Skip, I'd rather use Aquapel or Rain-X on the glass and Menzerna on the paint...

...some of those "paint sealer" packages that dealers use are okay, but require some periodic treatments to maintain it anyway. Why not just use traditional products that you can buy yourself for much less?

Default Auto Barn...

but I did not buy the Rain-X for the 4.2, I went with Aquapel (from Tire Rack)

autobarn.com

Default just keep in mind that Rain-X wears off after time, and Aquapel lasts longer....

...which is why I did the Aquapel on the 4.2. One treatment lasts pretty much an entire year. Water (and bug guts) beads off very well! Sometimes in heavy rain I think visibility is better with the wipers off!

Default any chattering?

My passenger side blade chattering in the last 2" of travel is driving me crazy. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Default I don't know about the paint but the glass stuff actually works.

We use it in the hotel industry and it really does prevent the glass especially frosted glass from getting fingerprints. You can get it done for alot less then the dealer is charging. Google diamon fusion and you should find a dealer. It's like permanent RainX. I know a outfit in NJ that charges $75 -100 vs. $600 from the dealer. They will even guarentee your windshield from breaking

Default That Diamon Fusion sounds very much like the German "CD Nano" product

It sounds like it's much more advanced than the old-fashioned Rain-X or Aquapel. I think I'll give it a go. My Audi dealer is offering it at under $100 for all glass.
