Default Has anyone used any aftermarket brake pads>?

Between Ferodo, Green Stuff, Red Stuff and OEM I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about them..... if you are using any pads other than OEM give me some feedback.

Default Have PBR/Axxiss Metal masters on my wife's 740i and I love them!

No squeal, extremely low brake dust and great bite!

On my A6 I've got Mintex Redbox pads front and rear and I do not like them at all...lots of fade, same if not more dusting.

My suggestion would be the Axxis/PBR's!!! That's my next set...I'm almost ready to just junk the one's I've got now and they're only 2 months old.

Bought them based on GPR's recommendation...shoulda gone with what I know to be good.

Default Ferodo and Porterfield. Depends what you want.

The Ferodo is a nice street pad with smooth progressive bite. On my light car (sub-3000lb) they lasted 40K, and still had plenty of material left, but they started to squeal due to glazing, and I couldn't make it go consistantly away. New set on order.

The Porterfields are more aggressive, but still with a smooth bite. Stand on them, and you'd swear the nose of the car is digging up pavement;-) They can make a little more noise, but they really hold up to hard use extremely well. We use them on our street/track car.

Both are lower dust than stock, but not dustless.

Default I liked EBC Greenstuffs on my 2.8 - decent performance both street and track

and low dust. Have you tried a search for "brake pads"?

Default

I had Mintex Reds for about 8 months and replaced with Pagids. Mintexes squeaked a lot.

Default Agree with that - PBRs on the A8, Mintexes on the A6.

Mintexes on the A8 sucked.

My S6 buddy is about to try PBRs on his car, isn't happy with OEMs.

Default After-market brake pads: break down

Jurid/Textar/Ate - these are great replacements for the OEM pad. If your aut-crossing or doing track events then Porterfields may be in order

Axxis/Pagids/Metal-masters/Raybestos- the problem here is fit. I find the molds are never correct and I need to grind them to fit. Some of the above mentioned pads really make alot of noise and eat up rotors quite fast.
Good luck.

Default Pagid RS4-2-1 Black ... Pagid RS4-2 Blue ... Ferodo DS2500

My 0-10 rating from street to full race.

OEM:
...... Rating = 0
...... Coefficient of friction probably 0.35-0.40

Pagid RS4-2-1 Black:
...... Rating = 2
...... cf = 0.45
...... Excellent high performance street pad

Pagid RS4-2 Blue:
...... Rating = 3
...... cf = 0.48
...... Excellent high performance street pad, may squeal slightly

Ferodo DS2500:
...... Rating = 5
...... cf = 0.50
...... This is the closest thing I've seen to a dual use pad, excellent on the street but also light duty track. Expect this pad to squeal occasionally.

I've used all of these, will never again use OEM pads, am currently using and satisfied with the Pagid RS4-2-1, and prefer the Ferodo DS2500. All have good friction when ice cold, usually lacking with full race pads. Also, be sure to use these pads both front and rear for best performance. Click these Pagid or Ferodo links for additional information.
