Have an A4 - considering the 2.7T. Anyone out there make the switch?

I have a 2000 2.7t with tip 22,000 miles and 17 inch S4 wheels and tires. My Ex. (who I work with) has 2001 A4 2.8Qtip with sport pkg. I get to drive her car now and again and it has a more sporty/tighter feel to the suspension than the A6. I love the A6 and you have to have 17 inch wheels with high performance tires. I have standard suspension and this is where you feel the difference between the A4 and the A6. You should try a sport pkg. before you buy.

The A6 does feel like it's not going to corner as well as the A4 because of it's increased size, but you do get used to it and it does handle just as well as the A4 for the average spirited driver.
From what I've heard here, go for the Sport suspension. All UK A6 2.7Ts are Sport as standard and I can't think I'd like to try pushing anything softer too hard round corners. We don't get the Servotronic steering as standard, so the stock feel here is a lot tighter - if you don't like the floaty overboosted feeling it's possible to pull a relay and tone it down.
I can't think of anything that I like less about my A6 - it's bigger outside and inside, faster, handles just as well, is more refined, cruises more smoothly, has more gadgets and no more light switch on a stalk ('raaay!). Oh, it drinks a lot more fuel than my A4 did, but that's because I love the turbo surge and my right foot seems to be a bit heavier than it used to in the A4...

the "performance" equation. Chris is a champion NORCAL auto-x'r, and I enjoy talking "sport" driving with him and getting his knowledge. Our cars are (so far) practically identical in set-up, so his impressions/experiences mean a lot to me. On the track for repeated lapping, the stock brakes must be cared for and not abused, or they will dramtically fade before the session is over. With that in mind, those on the track following me or in the corners observing were very impressed with over-all performance of the A6. This coming from instructors driving 285+hp 200Qs and 300+hp urS4s...and I'm the novice driver of the group. NeilM was also on the track with his brand-new S4 Avant and H&R coil-overs and said my car looked very good thru the corners, cornering as flat as most any car there (including his). Anyone seriously considering going faster (chipping) should look to the brakes/suspension and the wheels/tires first...as well as driving schools. I want to be sure the "nut" behind the wheel is capable before adding more power, so thats where I'm concentrating my up-grades first.
