Default here's a video w/ some audio of it

Honestly when it first started making the noise I thought a helicopter was following me around.

I was able to pry off the upper timing belt covers w/ out taking apart the front end, and you could see the belt flapping. Not sure if you could do this on your 4.2 I turned it off real quick.

tensioner failure

Default Wow...That sounded nasty.

Did you notice any other noises before it failed completely?

Default When mine was failing along with the idler, it would sound like that but when you revved it, it

would snap back into time. It threw a code about a cam timing sensor. But that was a 2.7t with variable timing. Of course the dealer in all their doucheyness could not replicate.
