Complete engine seal job 2 years ago. New front suspension parts 4 years ago. Over the last year I smelled burning transmission fluid, then about a month ago the transmission started slipping. The TCU had flaked out, and the neutral slams finished off the tranny, which had almost no fluid. Of course, there was no puddle under my car.

A TCU and used transmission later, and it's running again. I don't know if I'll go more than an hour's drive from home in it, but hopefully it's good for another 30K miles. It has 72,000, almost all highway, miles. I guess babying the car didn't make the transmission last any longer.

The interior is nearly mint, the exterior looks like new, and I've had no engine issues except a MAF at year 7. If it looked it's age, I certainly would have sold it.

I've got a 03 A6 2.7 tip with 122k miles. Purchased it at 96k. Everything is original except a coolant sensor and power steering pump. Transmission still works well. No major malfunctions. I guess I got lucky with mine. I do have a couple leaks. Mind if I ask how much all the engine seals set you back?
