Default What year is your car?

My understanding is that "hidden" EQ functions work only with 1999.5 (late '99 build dates) through 2001.

Default You need to have the right radio, and hold the button until EQ appears.

The right radio is the Symphony double-DIN size with a slot for one CD and a tape player. Turn off the car and pull out the key. Hold 5 down and press the on button, and wait for the 8 digits to show.

Hello Stoney,

I also tried this on my 2003 A6 which has the Symphony double-DIN size with a slot for one CD and a tape player as you describe. It did not work. Am I missing a step?

Thanks,
-Greg

Default I don't need the car off. Just hold down the 5 and push the **** to turn on. PSCAN to jump.

Turn off the radio, then hold down the number 5 'preset' button and tap the 'on/volume' button.

Then adjust the setting with the volume **** and press PSCAN to jump between settings.

I can do this while driving, no need to have the car off and the key out. Perhaps different model years are different. Mine is a 99.5, but the Symphony (double DIN) radio was just replaced a month or so ago.

Read my response below. Function works ONLY on '99.5 through '01 models.

So all us with 2002+ cars are out of luck? Or someone has to discover the new trick to activate it?

Default You can do it any time, driving or off.

I adjusted my GF's 2001 B5 A4 1.8T while we were on the way to dinner in addition to my 00 4.2. Did'nt have to have the key in while the car was off FWIW.

Default It appears to work if car is on, but...

I've gotten unpredictable results with the car running. Sometimes the EQ doesn't hold the change. Sometimes my other radio settings (tone, balance, fader, etc) go whacky.

This is why I think you must have the car off.
