HELP! Can't remove oil filter...

Ok, I thought I had a few hours before the games started - so I'd change the oil.
Background: New to me 99.5 A6 Qtip purchased 11/23 and now has 3,000 miles since then - time for oil change. Supposedly, oil was changed prior to purchase and oil did look new, as did filter. So this is my 1st time changing the oil on this car.
I'm use to changing my own oil (94 Audi 100CS) all the way back through Volvos, Scorpios, 510s, Cortinas, a Hillman, formula cars etc. but I have never had one that won't budge. I have already bent my usual (cheap) oil filter wrench, so I bought a web/strap type and now have dented, but not pierced, the oil filter.
I initially tried removing the oil filter with oil drain plug out, but don't know if the relief valve may still be causing a vacuum issue, where I may need to puncture the filter to relieve it. If I add oil, I believe vehicle is drivable (I'd recheck upon start-up) but if I puncture filter and can't get it off, I'm toast.
Thoughts?

You can always try pushing a screwdriver through it and using it for leverage
Good luck, and this is why I always change my own oil... never know how tight they 'tech' who changes your oil will decide to make it.
