Default Help! High speed vibration. Rims are perfectly balanced. Control arms are solid.

What are the other causes of high speed vibration? The mechanics suspected something wrong with the driveshaft.

Vibrations only come at around 50mph and 70mph.

Default It's nearly, virtually, always the wheels/tires.

Try a roadforce balance, but even that will not cure a bent rim.

Plus, search for vibration issues. This topic has been discussed ad infinitum nauseum.

Default Put the rim on a balancer and look to see if a tire is out of round.

It will show in balance but cause vibration.

Default I vote for driveshaft

If the wheels are true, the tires are in good shape, and the suspension is solid, then I would absolutely look at the driveshaft.

Of course, as a last check, you could swap all 4 wheels and tires with someone else's known good set and see if the vibration goes away.

Default Have they been on a Roadforce balance machine?

As opposed to just spin balancing by circumfrencial force, the roadforce machine actually turns them against a roller (moving road so to speak) which captures any uneven forces relative to the road surface.

Are the wheels hubcentric? If not, they rarely mount perfectly centered.

What kind of tires did you get ? If you got cheap Vietnamese tires like Wanli or Nankangs.....then thats the cause.

I learned the hard way when I got some off of eBay.You get what you pay for indeed.

Default Bent wheels. Out of round tires. And pink elephants.

Yes, it could be a worn majro component, but 98% likely it isn't.

Most shops either miss OOR wheels and tires or dont think it is "significant" . On our cars, it is.
