Help...I can't figure out where this goes....
I took off the cowl cover so I could clean out leaves, etc and found this hose loose. Looks like a battery vent hose, and my battery was replaced with an OEM Audi/VW battery about 6 months ago. I cant figure out where the hose goes onto the battery. There is no port on the front, top, or sides of the battery, and I really don't want to take it out to look at the back. Is it really necessary to reconnect this vent hose?
TIA

It is an Audi battery...bought and installed at Audi dealer....
It was installed by the previous owner prior to turning it in at the end of his lease about 8 months ago.

I know its a battery vent hose...I just cant figure out where on the battery it connects...
especially since this is an Audi battery. When I replaced my BMW battery a few years ago with a Sears battery, it even had the hole to plug in my vent hose.

Why does a battery that is under the hood need a vent???....
I understand why a battery that is in the trunk of the car (like in a BMW) would want to vent the battery outside, but why would a battery that is already outside need to be vented??
