Help with plastic rain shroud at the bottom of the windshield.
After making a sales call today at a local scrapyard, I took my 4x4, uh I mean Audi to the carwash for a quick washdown. About an hour later I noticed that the passenger side footwell was soaked.
I'm well aware of the evap. drain issue, but was convinced that there was too much water for only 1.5 hours of run time. When I got home, I removed the battery cover to find that the pollen filter seemed wet. I did a little test to find that water seems to be leaking past the foam seal along the bottom of the plastic shroud and into the HVAC intake. As a stop-gap, I've wedged some high density weather stripping in there.
What's the real cure here? Anyone have an idea?

I'm guessing you already verified that the drain hole were unobstructed...
The plastic shroud should wedge into the plastic strip immediately below the windshield. I imagine the design is to get water to go over the union or along the union to the edge. Is yours broken somehow? Is it installed correctly? Other than that, I can't imagine anything else without going outside to look at mine...and it's cold and nasty out. :P

Got it apart. Looks like my friendly neighborhood.....
safelite installer did a poor job (at best).
Problem #1: Plastic shroud is separated from the piece below it (half of it). One has small ridges and the other small channels. I don't see how I'll get these pressed together without removing the wipers and taking the whole thing out.
Problem #2: There's a metal "lip" where some foam on the aforementioned strip seals above the fresh air intake. Looks like the installers tool bent this lip down in a few places causing the foam not to seal and the water to run into the fresh air intake.
Anyone (6ULDV8) know how to get these two pieces married?

I've had this problem before...not A/C drain
I encountered the same issue with water coming in through the pollen filter.

It turned out to be that the plastic shroud along the bottom of the windshield was loose. There are three silver clips that hold it in place. Two of three of mine were missing. Apparently when the pollen filter was replaced, they probably removed the clips and never replaced at the dealer. Here is where the clips are located:

The water was going in just below the windshield wiper between the glass and the plastic. Check on that before other items.

Hey,
I had Safelite install a new winsshield for me and had leaks, twice. Unfortunately, sometimes you get what you paid for, sometimes...you get lucky! The saving point is, I called, they came back no questions asked on warranty AND after the second time, b/c of the attitude I got from customer service, I spoke intelligently and nicely to the manager and he comp'd me an interior detail (shampooing rug specifically) to 'make good' up to $100. They should work with you to correct the 'learning curve' of their installation technicians. Overall, I saved money and got detailed for less than an Audi or any other shop quote installation!....give em a shout, (without the shouting)...you never know!.....
