Well, the mounts are designed to sustain heavy loads along their axis, not laterally as in accident. That just makes sense...

I am not sure how you can argue this but realistically it is the insurance company that has to provide proof that the equipment failed before the accident to be able to weasel out of paying for it. It is not their charity that they pay for damages, they are obligated so by law. It is the insurance company that has to prove that mounts disintegrate after eight years in general or prove that there is a design flaw with Audi engine mounts. If there was a critical flaw like that I am sure there would be a recall. I am sure neither is true.

File a complaint on the BBB website if nothing happens with the insurance Co. I recommend a change of insurance carrier.

Tell them you will get your lawyer involved if the issue isn't resolved, nothing like a good bluff to get the paper work going.
