I am new to this board and I've seen numerous wonderful discussions and learned a lot here. My question is which thremostat is better for my 98 A6q. It's said Audi came out a TSB recommending 92C thermostat to replace the original 87C. Can you tell me the technical benefits of doing this? What consequence I may face if I stick to the 87C one? The dealer gave me the 87C thermostat by default. When I took the old one out of the car, it was a 92C one (clearly it's been replaced). The radiator is leaking, may have something to do with the hotter running temperature and therefore higher pressure. The PCV hose, vacuum lines were really baked to be very brittle! I personally want to use the 87C one but not sure. Advice appreciated.

You would have better heating in the winter, once the car got to temperature.
The difference in temperature, 5 degrees, would not account for severe degradation of your hoses.
You should replace the old hoses on a regular basis. Sounds like it is time for this.
