Default HELP?? Tranny probs!!

Hi there,

I've just bought a nice A6 V6 2.4 Auto form a friend of mine.

Now when I bought it the car had a hunting problem, so I disconnected the battery to try and clear the fault, but when I reconnected the battery the transmission started playing up. It's a five speed tiptronic tranny.

the problem is when you put it in "D" drive mode it only goes as far as second gear, then when you move it across to tiptronic mode it will change up the gears but between each gear it revs up then "BANGS" into the next gear!

I had a locl transmission shop look at it and they could find no fault codes! But they said it could be related to the throttle postioning sensor! Could this be the fault?

I had the tranny fluid changed to see if thi would help but it never.

Anybody have any ideas??

TIA,
Stevie.

The Multifunction switch attached to the transmission might be the problem or the torque converter.

I'd guess that it's the multifunction switch, as well. I had a similar problem.

Default There's a pretty good diagnostic procedure for this problem

in Bentley that takes full advantage of VAGCOM (or equiv) features. I'm dealing with Tip problems on a 99 A4 project and was amazed at how my VWTOOL software will check each solenoid, the multifunction switch, the DTCs in the TCM, and numerous other items.

Try resetting the transmission first, search for "transmission reset" & you'll get lots of info.

Hi stevie38,

I'm having similar problems as you're describing. What was the result for you?

did a reset work for you? or ...

Thanx Greg
