Recently had new tires installed (checked for balance twice on separte occasion) and now the car shakes/vibrates a bit going 55-60 mph. Any others experience vibrations in the steering wheel at 55-60. The vibration stops when I hit 70-80 mph, so I guess I have a reason to drive fast now.

the front driveshaft was out of round the first time - this was a large contributor to my problem.
My braking vibration was the rear rotors but Audi said "within spec." so I had them turned at my expense and it went away.
It still feels like jello from 60mph-70mph - I'm going in again next week for attempt 3 to remove the vibra-tronic feature.
I have two seperate sets of wheels/tires that I've invested $150 into getting Hunter GSP 9700'd and I can still feel a vibration.
My vibration disappears around 75mph too.
I have my 605 relay pulled, I wonder if there is any relationship to vibration and having pulled the servotronic relay?

Could be a worn bushing problem? Extra adhesion from new tyres may accentuate any wear in the many bushes presnet in the rather complex A6 set up. Best of luck

That is the only machine that is truly sensitive enough to correctly balance an Audi and it works. I had a major problem with this until I had a Hunter roard force balance done and it fixed the problem. It will also tell you if it is a internal problem with the tire or if its a bad rim.
Good Luck

Take the advice from folks recommending having the wheels balanced on a Hunter machine.
If that does not solve the problem, check the condition of ALL the bushings in the steering and front suspension. They're soft rubber and tend to wear prematurely.
