Here's a bind, gas gauge on 0 miles, and I can't waste gas driving around....

looking for a gas station that actually has gas either.
To shed light on the local situation - yesterday thru today the NE has been experiencing a power problem. Well, these days all the pumps are electric/computer-based. So no gas.
Freaked everyone around so badly, people have been standing in huge lines all day. It took me an hour to get an A4 Cabrio filled up for a customer-delivery today.
Now, so many of the gas stations are out of gas, and I can't even begin to start wandering around with the car to get filled up myself.
Guess I'll just wait it out to make sure my closest gas station has some before heading over there, or start calling around from an outgoing radius or something.

never let tank get below half. And never assume cell phones and ATMs will always be working when you need them.
You might try some of that emergency fake-gas stuff Pennzoil makes, just make to sure to read the directions. There's some warning about not shutting off the car until you've put real gas in the tank.

I can't open the gas door on my A6 with the key in the ignition; off or on. Perhaps it can be reprogrammed, but I've never seen it mentioned here.

the gas door wont open on my car either if the key is in regardless of whether the car is running or not if the doors are locked. It opens fine with key in and doors unlocked - just can't be running.
