Hertz's GPS is made by Magellan and is fitted to Hertz's Prestige Collection, which includes models of Lincoln, Volvo, and Jaguar. Hertz GPS's trip computer function logs time, mileage, and highest speed driven, among other things. When I rented a Volvo recently, I read the trip function data and noticed that the car had been driven 102 mph. Before I returned the car, I reset the trip computer's memory so that Hertz has no idea how fast I drove...I hope!

Although you can get a fix with only three satellites, the more satellites you have contact with the more accurate the fix is. That's why I say that obstructions like buildings or trees can degrade signal accuracy -- they can reduce the number of signals you can get when these signals are from satellites near the horizon.
