Hesitation and stumbling between 1400 and 1800 RPM

I have a very weird problem with my 02 3.0.
First of all I get hesitation when taking off. Seems to stumble along until I get into higher speeds and RPMS. That doesn't bother me so much as it only happens if I try to take off really fast. If I steadily increase the speed it's fine.
Here's the really weird part... If I'm going about 40-50 MPH and the RPM's are between 1400-1800 I get a slight stumble that feels like a misfire every 5-8 seconds. At the time it's in 6th gear. If I shift down into 5th gear and put the RPM's over 2000 then the problem goes away.
The CEL is not on.
Anyone else ever have this problem? Anything I should check on?

VAG it and check for misfire...you might not have sufficient # of misfires to trigger CEL.
Could be/most likely is vacuum leak.

Wonder if I should take it back or call them and ask about it. How important is that check valve?
This is the check valve that was part of the vacuum lines.
