Default Hey everyone - intro and vag code questions/problems

<center><img src="https://home.comcast.net/~Phat_Bastage/pics/car1.jpg"></center><p>Good evening everyone,

I drive a 2000 A6 2.7t Quattro, Silver with saddleback burgandy/black interior.

Anyway, I love the car and it has been very good to me up until about 1 month ago. So, I read the codes on it and this is what I get..

9 Faults Found:
17965 - P1557 - 35-00 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
16620 - P0236 - 35-10 - Turbocharger boost sensor (A) Circ Range/Performance
16490 - P0106 - 35-10 - Manifold Abs. Pressure or Bar. Pressure Range/Performance
17831 - P1423 - 35-10 - Sec.Air Inj.Sys.,Bank1 Flow too Low
17819 - P1411 - 35-10 - Sec.Air Inj.Sys.,Bank2 Flow too Flow
17963 - P1555 - 35-10 - Charge Pressure Upper Limit exceeded
18010 - P1602 - 35-10 - Power Supply (B+) Terminal 30 Low Voltage
16486 - P0102 - 35-10 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circ Low Input
17521 - P1113 - 35-10 - Bank1-Sensor1 Internal Resistance too High

So, after spending hours researching the codes on the forums, it seems most people with the same codes are seeing a broken/cracked hose and a vac. leak.

Im sure its a combo of problems. But its getting dark and im at work so the garage does not have enough light for me to be crawling under the car to check the lower tubing.

Any help on any of these codes would be great. I see a lot of similar codes but they are in the N/A forums and not real similar to the 2.7t motor.

Definitely looks like a boost leak.

Default Welcome.. first things first...

Have you ever changed your diverter valves?

The codes all relate to the output of the turbos. If they give off too much pressure.. the system enters safe mode. This can be the result of 11 or both diverters or other problem..a leaky hose etc.

Default Re: Welcome.. first things first...

My DV's should be here monday. I did order those, I have changed the MAF sensor/Plugs/Fuel Filter/Air Filter

I changed all of those just before my vag-com tool came in the mail.

Here is more a more indepth account of what is happening, if it helps:

About a month ago, I started my car and the idle stayed low but was really rough bouncing from about 1.2k to 500rps and it just died. So I started it again same thing. Third time is the charm I start the car and it stays running, as im pulling away I moderately hit the gas pedal and the car hesitates bigtime, i mean goes from 1.5k/2k rpms to 500rpms then after about 2 seconds makes up for lost time and surges. The CEL comes on from this. I gimp the car home and let it sit for a day (yes as in hopes the bad engine monster would leave my car).

So after that time is up, I go out and start the car to drive it to work, no CEL is on, and the car is running rather well. Kick *** right?Wrong

So 2 weeks later, the same thing, happens and now it is constant, Ive replaced the typical things so far just on general principle. MAFsensor, Air filter, Plugs, Fuel Filter. It still almost dies when I hit the gas then catches up to itself almost jumping at 2k rpms.

I should also add this is totally random. And about 2 hrs ago , the CEL went off and I couldnt get it to come back on...

Default You need to one item at a time..

First the DV's, you may want to order SAMCO hoses and replace these as well given their age.
Then stop here.. run your car and see how it goes.
clear all the codes.. and run the car a bit. Check it again.

When you fix your problem, I would like to see more photos of rear spoiler.

Default *** Updated codes ***

** UPDATED CODES **

After clearing all those other codes.

This is what im left with.

16490 - Manifold / Barometric Pressure Sensor (G71) / (F96): Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16622 - Turbocharger Boost Sensor (A) Circ High Input
17963 - Charge Pressure Upper Limit Exceeded

As you can see only one of the codes is the same, 17963. I should get my diverter valves tomorrow, but until then who knows.

As intermittent as it is, im leaning tward maybe problems with the MAP sensor. I plan on cleaning it with fast evaporating electronics cleaner tonite at work (the stuff we use to spray off mainboards). Other than that Im at a loss. I inspected the vacuum lines as best as I could today by removing the Y pipe, air box, orange resivour etc. And I saw no visible crakcks or breaks, but I suppose a pressure tester is next.

Well off to work I go... and ill keep everyone updated, because there are countless posts on here with no definate fix aside from the dealer replaceing like 10 things and charging in excess of 1g.
