Hi, I'm the happy owner of a 2001 A6 2.7T (manual trans) that the previous owner spent the big bucks and had a valentine one with remote display in the mirror installed. My luck. It's been working well for the last five years. Recently, it's been beeping constantly, warning me of absolutely nothing. So, it's the unit that is acting up. Valentine will fix it for about $50, if I can find it and send it to them.

So, the question is, where in heaven did the PO hide the detector. I've searched in the obvious places, near the fuse block, behind the glovebox, even in the headrests, and found nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I'd say, follow the wire from the mirror. Another thing, the beam needs direct path access to the outside. Thus, check the grille (upper/lower) and the fog light location, although I imagine it would get dirty there.

edit: could also be in the mirror itself.
