Hello,
I am currently looking at buying a second hand A6 WAGON.
One of the option I have is a 2000 2.8 quattro wagon A6.
The car has good specification, quattro, leather, electric everyting, tiptronic gear and stuff, but my cause for concern is the milage.
This car is not 4yrs old and has 83950 miles (125,000km) on the clock and I am not sure how this car will take high mileage or what its weak points are.
Can anyone who has run a similar car with the tiptronic gear please tell me there experiances good or bad so I know what to look for.
Important, I can't take this car for a test drive.
Hope you can help me, thanks in advance.

First off, any high mileage Audi that's soon to be due for major service (90K mi. service is just around the corner) is another expense out of your pocket if you were to purchase it (unless you can convince the sellers to have it done early before the sale).
Ask for the VIN# and research the maintenance history at an Audi dealership (just to make sure no scheduled maintenance visits were skipped).
Ask the seller if they're willing to take it back w/in say 5 days if you're not completely happy (hardly anyone does business like this, so it'll be tough, but still worth asking since you won't even see the car in person).
On a personal note, high mileage vehicles (about 50K-60K mi. or up) don't appeal to me. I bought mine last summer w/ 30K mi. and under a 2-yr. warranty. My advice, keep searching and maybe go for one that has lower miles and had a major service done (at 30K & 60K mi.).

I have a 1999 A6 Avant (leased & owned since new). We've had a host of problems, major & minor, mostly covered by warranty. We are only at 60K miles.
I would only buy an A6 if you get an extended warranty from a reputable company. Our 1999 A6 Sedan has also had problems, but fewer major mechanical difficulties than our Avant, even though it has 80K miles.
